XNK24 Pro and the xnk24.com website are built on open-source software, AI model weights published by third parties, and data from officially published sources. This document sets out the licence groups, the attributions the licences require, and the data sources in the data packs.
Version 1.0, effective from 28/10/2026.
Chapter I. Open-source software
Article 1. The full notices are in the application
- The full copyright and licence notices for every component shipped with XNK24 Pro are installed with the application. Open Settings → About, or Settings → Legal → Open-source licences.
- The notices are generated automatically from the components actually present in the build, at every release. Each licence is printed in full once, together with the copyright lines it applies to.
- These components belong to their authors and are used under each component's own licence. The XNK24 Terms of use do not restrict the rights those licences give you in respect of the component itself.
Article 2. Licence groups
The software shipped with XNK24 Pro uses the following open-source licences:
- Permissive licences: MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD 2-Clause, BSD 3-Clause, ISC, Zlib, Boost (BSL-1.0), Unlicense, the Unicode licence (Unicode-3.0), the libpng licence, the FreeType Licence (FTL), and the Independent JPEG Group (IJG) licence. These licences permit use, copying and distribution, on condition that the copyright notice and licence text are retained.
- Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL-2.0): applies to certain parsing components and utilities. Under MPL-2.0, the source code of these components is always made available; the component names and where to obtain the source code are given in the in-app notices.
- SIL Open Font License 1.1 (OFL-1.1): the Inter typeface used in the application and on the website.
- Community Data License Agreement Permissive 2.0 (CDLA-Permissive-2.0): a data component shipped with the software.
- Notices kept as received: certain cryptographic libraries derived from OpenSSL and BoringSSL, and other components whose licences require the NOTICE file to be reproduced verbatim, are printed verbatim in the application.
Article 3. Required attributions
Some licences require attribution in the documentation accompanying the product. The following lines apply to XNK24 Pro:
- Portions of this software are copyright © The FreeType Project (www.freetype.org). All rights reserved.
- This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.
- Copyright 2014 The PDFium Authors.
- Copyright (c) 2023-2026 The ggml authors.
Article 4. The xnk24.com website
The website uses open-source software frameworks and libraries under the MIT, ISC and similar licences, and the Inter typeface under OFL-1.1. The copyright notices that accompany the code of these libraries are retained as the licences require.
Chapter II. AI models
Article 5. Model weights shipped with XNK24 Pro
XNK24 Pro downloads and runs the following AI models on your machine. The names "XNK24 Core", "XNK24 Reader" and "XNK24 Search" are names XNK24 gives to the model files in the product; the original weights belong to their authors:
| Role in the application | Original weights author | Licence | Changes made by XNK24 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main AI assistant (XNK24 Core 3) | Google LLC | Apache 2.0 | Weight quantisation, file metadata correction |
| Reading documents and scans (XNK24 Reader 1) | PaddlePaddle Authors | Apache 2.0 | As stated in the in-app notices |
| Semantic search (XNK24 Search 1) | BAAI | MIT | As stated in the in-app notices |
- The full text of the Apache 2.0 and MIT licences is in the in-app notices (Article 1).
- The use of these authors' weights does not mean that they sponsor, endorse or are responsible for XNK24. The Apache 2.0 licence does not grant a right to use the authors' trademarks.
- Your use of the AI assistant must also comply with the Acceptable use policy.
Chapter III. Data in data packs and content
Article 6. Data sources
XNK24 data packs are compiled from the following sources. Each record in the application states its source, its reference number or data period, and its update date.

- The voice in the Bulletin is a synthetic voice.
Article 8. Content created by XNK24

- You may use this content within XNK24 under the Terms of use. The Terms of use govern bulk copying and extraction of data packs.
